Pediatric Medicine has been indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI): a significant step forward

On April 18, 2024, Pediatric Medicine (PM) received an official notice that it had been selected for coverage in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), Web of Science™ Core Collection. Articles published after 2022, beginning with 5(1), will be included (Figure 1).

Pediatric Medicine (PM, Pediatr Med, ISSN 2617-5428) launched in May 2018 by the Children's Hospital of Fudan University (Shanghai, China) and AME Publishing Company (Figure 2), is an open access, peer-reviewed electronic journal with the aims to serve as an international platform for academic discussion and exchange among practitioners to make discoveries on this important issue. The mission of PM is to bring pediatricians, at the intersection of clinical practice and translational research, the best researches that provide information in understandable and clinically useful formats, which will ultimately improve healthcare delivery and promote children’s health.

PM is the official journal of the National Children's Medical Center (China) and Children's Hospital of Fudan University (Shanghai, China).

Since it was launched, the journal has been supported by a distinguished editorial team of worldwide experts (Figure 3), including 63 incumbent Editorial Board Members from 15 countries and regions (Figure 4).

As a dedicated platform, where key questions in the field of pediatric medicine may be answered, PM publishes flexible and diverse article genres in a fast electronic publication mode. Till now, PM has published 236 articles, 190 of which are Original Articles and Review Articles (Figure 5, 6). In 2024, the February issue and May issue have been published. With an internationalized editorial board as a strong base, PM further gains support from authors and reviewers from all over the world. It is with their joint efforts that high-quality publications are guaranteed. Corresponding authors are from 25 countries with a major of USA, China, Italy, Canada, Singapore, Spain and UK (Figure 7).

Apart from regular publications, PM also makes great efforts on the Special Series, which features a number of articles on certain topics. Since its birth, PM has published nine outstanding special series (Table 1), which can be found here: https://pm.amegroups.org/post/category/special-series.

According to the records of Google Analytics, together there are 229,614 visitors and 531,570 pageviews from May 2018 to December 2023 (Figure 8). Readers were from diverse countries, with a majority from the USA.

To acknowledge the reviewers for their outstanding contributions to the peer review process, we highlighted some of them with a brief interview of their thoughts and insights as a reviewer from 2021 (Figure 9).

To raise awareness of medical advances among clinicians through translated content, and to enhance the links between Chinese scientists and the international medical community, the PM Chinese edition (the Chinese edition of Pediatric Medicine) has been launched in 2022. The translation of a selection of full-text content from PM applies rigorous standards to ensure accuracy and quality control. The PM Chinese edition will deliver the quality clinical and scientific content to the Chinese medical and clinical research community, which can be accessed via Article options (Figure 10), and the PM Chinese edition button of the home page (Figure 11).
